The John Labatt Centre is a new multi-purpose facility whose focus is on both entertainment and sports. The facility is an arena, which was opened October 11 2002. The centre is a "flagship" located in downtown London and will be one of the catalysts in the redevelopment of London's downtown. The facility seats 9,000 for hockey and ice events and over 10,000 for concerts, family shows and other events. The facility has 1,000 premium club seats, 38 private luxury suites and 5 Group Sales Suites. The building has several unique qualities:

Features
Score Board - The John Labatt Centre has a Nevco center-hung scoreboard measuring 16' x 16' with a four sided Tribar 12/5 mm pitch LED video screen producing 7,000 NITS of brightness. Each screen is 8' x 7'. Each side has an 8' x 2' illuminated ad panel below the scoreboard and a four-face scrolling ad panel below the scoreboard. In its raised position, 10' of the scoreboard remains visible below the low steel. There are also two auxiliary LED full-colour "bowl ring" scoreboards with full video capability. The arena has an outdoor communication tower wtih video capabilities.
Rigging - The distance from the arena floor to the roof is 70'. Distance from floor to the low steel is 58'. The total rigging weight for an end stage configuration is 95,000 lbs.; it is also 95,000 lbs for a centre stage configuration. Rigging weight for the theatre setting is 65,000 lbs. All the structural steel is divided into 10' x 10' quadrants to reduce the amount of bridling. Arena rigging plans are available from the Operations Office. All rigging plans, including the weight of each point, must be submitted to and approved by the Arena Management prior to load in.
Sound system and Mixer - The John Labatt Centre house sound system provides a full range of high power sound to all seats and concourse levels in the arena. The system is made up of custom, full range, distributed speakers suspended from the arena roof. There is a single compact disc player, dual cassette deck, mixing board, microphone, wireless microphone, and a Clear Com (split channel). The sound control room is located on Level 200 in the southwest corner. The arena is also equipped with an in-house listening device system for the hearing impaired.
The standard mix size 16' x 24' , height can vary from 14" to 24" (size is at the discretion of the show).
Locks and Keys - Locker/dressing rooms may be secured with locks and keys. Keys for each room may be checked out through the Event Co-ordinator. All persons who sign out keys will be responsible for return of the keys at the conclusion of the event.
Load-in - Show load-in is located at the Southwest end of the arena, approximately 75' from the arena floor. There are three (3) loading docks with two (2) load levelers and dock seals and one (1) drive-in ramp that provides access to the arena floor. There is adequate parking for fifteen (15) buses or trucks outside the load-in area. There is a secure lot away from the building for storage of extra trailers, if needed.
Spotlights and Lighting - General Lighting. The house light controls are located in the sound room at the southwest end of Level 200. The house lights are computer controlled and are fully dimmable. The spot lighting consists of 112 - 1000 watt metal halide lights. The fixtures are controlled in sets of 2. Maximum lighting for events is 100 verticle foot-candles and 220 horizontal foot-candles
Spotlights The John Labatt Centre has six (6) Xenon spotlights. All spotlight platforms are easily accessed below the catwalk around the perimeter of the arena floor. Additional spotlights can be rented at the show's request.
Forklift - The arena owns one 6000 lb and one 5000 lb forklift that are available for rent. They are propane fueled and have a lift height of 17 feet. Fork length is 4 feet (6 feet with extensions).
